Final Post for 2010 and For Fun Challenges

As I said above, this is my last card as a designer for For Fun Challenges. I've decided to take a break for a while and basically become a free agent. Ok, that means I'll enter challenges and post entries as time allows and I will try to get something new on here every week...crossing my fingers! The challenge over at For Fun this week is to create something that represents the new year to you. Expecting a baby? A special anniversary or like I did....just a new year coming is enough for me! This card was created using all shimmer paper from Archivers and a cut out using an SVG file for my Cricut. Pretty simple, but I really like how it turned out. Thanks everyone for stopping by and I wish you all the very best in the coming year. Happy 2011!!

Anything Goes at For Fun

This week's challenge over at For Fun is to make anything your little heart desires. I thought I would show you my Christmas cards that I sent out this year. Pretty simple but you can't get too fancy with cards that you have to mail. I sprinkled the snowflakes inside each card to get that "Let it Snow" effect. I got some feedback from my family that they were surprised by the snowflakes falling out of the cards when they opened it and they loved it so...... it looks like I accomplished my mission! Have a very Merry Christmas everyone and make sure to check back here next week for another holiday creation. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by!

The Reason for the Season Challenge

This week's challenge over at For Fun Challenges is to create a card that illustrates your interpretation of the meaning for Christmas for you. I really enjoyed this because usually when making a Christmas card I think snowflakes, santa, snowmen, etc. But this week, I went a different route and I really had fun. The nativity scene was cut out using my Cricut and an SVG file that I found out in the world wide web. (just Googled it) It's so simple but I think very impactful. The sentiment was computer generated. This card was so easy to make and perfect for mass production. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by!

A Sketchy Challenge

This week's challenge is to create a card from a sketch found over at For Fun Challenges. Hop on over there and check it out. You can do anything you want to do with it. It's kinda fun to see the different creations everyone came up with and I can't wait to see what you do with it.

And here's my take on it:

I used some awesome sparkly paper in turquoise just to shake things up a little. The sentiment was created using Just Rite stamps and the Santa hat was made using an SVG cut file. Make sure you check out the other's creations over at For Fun Challenges and play along! Thanks for stopping by!!

This week's For Fun Challenge

Well, if you've been here to check out my entry for this week's challenge already you will have noticed that it wasn't here. That's because I was "challenged" with scheduling my post! I had the date for December...eek! I usually check but with Turkey Day coming I just go busy but anyway.....the challenge is an open one. Create anything you like. Make whatever makes your skirt fly up...that's it! My creation was for a Christmas cookie exchange. We had to bring the recipe along with our cookies so I thought I would jazz it up a little. Not too much but just something fun. It's pretty self explanatory so since I'm so late with this post....I'll just leave it at that. Make sure you hop on over to For Fun Challenges to check out the other creations. Have a great Thanksgiving and thanks for stopping by!

Thankful

This week's challenge over at For Fun is to create a card illustrating thanks. I chose to make a card with a big beautiful acorn that I embossed using Archiver's shimmer paper. I adore that paper, don't you? The sentiment is computer generated and the DP is a scrap from my stash. I cut the acorn on my Cricut using an SVG file that I found on the internet. I'm really having fun with my new Make The Cut software.....you really should check it out. This card was really pretty simple and I like it a lot...hope you do too! Make sure you stop by For Fun Challenges and check out the other creations the ladies came up with. Thanks for stopping by!

Embossing, Glitter,Ink and Shimmer Mist....oh my!

This week's challenge over at For Fun is to create a card using the dry embossing method. I used one of the fabulous folders from Cuttlebug as my background, some kraft paper from SU and went from there. I cut out a snowflake on my Cricut using the amazing "Make the Cut" software and a free SVG file that I found out there in the world wid web somewhere and then inked it using Van Dyke Brown from the The Vick Bartock Collection line of inks ( I think they are no longer available...sorry). I spritzed it with some Autum Leaves Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels. I sponged up the background with some SU Close to Cocoa and Blue Brocade and added another spritz of gold Shimmer Mist. I added a punched snowflake from MS and sprinkled some blue glitter on it for that added magical snowflake sparkle. The sentiment is computer generated and attached using some copper brads. There ya have it! A REALLY different kind of holiday card for me but I like it a lot. Wish you could see the shimmer mist in the light...pretty! Make sure you check out For Fun Challenges to see what the other ladies came up with and thanks for stopping by!

It's Wednesday!!

Wow...how did that happen? It's Wednesday already? This week's Challenge at For Fun  is sponsored by Daisy's Digi Doodles and the objective is to create a card with metal on it. You know...brads, frames, clips, etc. My card showcases one of the adorable images from Daisy's Digi Doodles called Rainy Day Freddy. It's just adorable. The DP is from The Paper Loft called Morning Rain. I love it. It's so soft and somewhat rustic. I printed the bear out on some velvet paper that I've had in my stash for a while...it's tough to see but it really adds some interesting texture. I did cover the rain coat and boots with some Crystal Effects just to get that shine. Hope you like it and thanks so much for stopping by!!

A Challenge Just For Fun

This week's challenge over at For Fun Challenges is to create a Halloween card using any of your favorite Halloween colors except orange. At first I though this would be a tough one but I though on it a while...it's not difficult at all! I made a card for this challenge using shades of black, gray, white and red. The spider web and spider are from Cricut's mini cartridge October 31st. It's soooo cool! Lots of really spooky images. For the word "Boo" I painted some chipboard and then melted some empossing powder right over the paint then randomly glued on some glitter. The drippy blood is red velvet and punched out with a Martha Stewart border punch. I added some black tulle ribbon with some awesome little metal roses and there you have it....my non-orange Halloween card! Make sure you hop on over to For Fun Challenges to see what the other ladies came up with. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy Wednesday, it's challenge time!

This week's challenge at For Fun Challenges is sponsored by Robyn's Fetish. The lucky winner will receive 3 images of their choosing so why not give it a shot? What is the challenge, you ask? Create a project using the colors of red, brown and cream. I love this color combinations, don't you?
The card I made uses one of the images that I think is so appropriate for this time of year. I added a lot of Stickles just to give a little fall sparkle. The rest is pretty self explanatory...plenty of leaves, some of my favorite brown polka dot paper and a Cuttlebugged red background. The image was colored with copics and cut out using a Nestie. That's it! Hope you like it and thanks so much for stopping by!

This week over at For Fun Challenges we're having fun with Halloween. That's it...pretty easy huh? There's just so much cool Halloween stuff out there. Don't you just love it all? My card was one that I made for the  The Stamping Boutique Digi Day a couple of weeks ago. I think the image is just adorable. I added some candy corn brads from HL and threw on some super cute orange polka dot ribbon. Really pretty simple. Make sure to stop by For Fun and check out the other creations....they're Spooktacular! (sorry couldn't help myself) Hope you like the card and thanks so much for stopping by!

Old is New

This week's For Fun Challenge is to make a card using something that you bought or acquired somewhere somehow but never used. Come on...we've all got those things, right? Well, I know I do and here is what I came up with. I used some fabulous DP from Creative Imaginations that I've had in my stash for a while. I also used Just Rite's DIY Monogram Stamper Kit that I have never used and now that I've discovered how easy it is to use will definitely create several of these cards to have around for a quick card...super easy! I also used the Classic Scalloped Squares Large Nesties that I've had for quite some time but have never used. Wow....that's three unused items that I had in my stash....COOL! Why don't you hop on over to the For Fun Challenge blog and see what the other gals came up with and dig into those piles and use something that's old but new. Hope you like my card and thanks so much for stopping by!

Boo to You!

Quick post today. Wanted to share a Halloween card I made for the last Digi Day over at SNR for The Stamping Boutique. I have several so I will sprinkle a few in over the next week or so. I think this one is my favorite. I have always loved these types of images.....they're just so fun. I colored this image with Copics and sprinkled some flower soft on the monster feet to make them fuzzy....added some glitter to the witches boots and used some crystal effects on those funky yellow boots. I cut out some dots and popped some of them up for some added dimension and there you have it....a fun Halloween card. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by!

New Challenge - New Look

First, let's talk about the obvious....I have a new look. I decided to update my blog just for a change. Of course I had to include my granddaughter in the header....couldn't help myself. I just love her so much! Anyway...on to the challenge. This week's challenge is to create a fall-ish card. NO Halloween just yet. Our sponsor this week is Digi Doodles......Have you checked their stuff out lately? So, so, so awesome! Why don't you play along and win some digis? They're cute...they're fun and they're from Digi Doodles, what else do you need? See you over at For Fun Challenges....Helen has all the deets for you to play along! My card this week is using one of their images from the RagaMutts series called "Bootsie". Isn't he just the most adorable little dog you've ever seen? I decided to make a giant fire hydrant for him to hang out around....a dog's dream right? I threw on some autumn leaves from bazill basics and there you have it.....a fun fall card. Hope you like it and thanks so much for stopping by!

For Fun Challenge Wednesday

Happy Wednesday! This week's challenge is a fun one....Vintage! I just love anything vintage. The card I made for this challenge was basically a simple one. I had a print of a gorgeous gal from the 50's showing off a yummy cake that she made. Not sure what I will use this card for so I'm leaving the area empty where I normally would put a sentiment blank. I think this card may be nice for a "feel better" type card. Very simple...not much explaining to do. I used some DP for the background that I had in my stash, added a border and some tiny pearls along with some stickles on the cake. There you have it! Please stop by the For Fun Challenges website and check out the other designers' creations....you'll love them. Hope you like it and thanks so much for stopping by!

It's "For Fun" Challenge Time!

This week's challenge is to create a glitzy card. Well, I have to tell you...that's one of my most favorite kind of cards. I love all that sparkle. Sometimes I think I love it too much..........naaaaah! No such thing! Ok, back to my card. I used some awesome DP that has the coolest sparkly print on it. I wish I could remember where I got it but it's one of those scraps that I've had for a while. The cute little chair is from Squigglefly. The sentiment is computer generated and I used a Spellbinders Shapeabilities called Fancy Tags. This is a fun little card to give to a friend....don'tcha think? Don't forget to hop on over to For Fun to see what the other girls have created...I know you're going to be impressed! Hope you like my card and thanks for stopping by!

Don't you just love this image and don't you just wish you were doing that right now? I do! The challenge this week is to use black and white with one other color only. That was tough for me! I ended up using this really pretty blue as my accent color. The paper is shimmer paper from Archivers. I threw on some pearls and ribbon for some "splash" and there you have it...my card for this week's challenge! Hope you like it and thanks so much for stopping by!

Thanks for stopping by and I should be able to get back to my blog now........except for those times when I'm playing with Taylee :-)

The background paper that I used is from Webster's Pages and it comes in this awesome little combo pack which includes both the Lullaby Lane & Life's Portrait designs. This paper is just gorgeous and such a perfect compliment to this beautiful lace flower. The sentiment is computer generated and I added a couple of pearls in the corner just to finish it off. Hope you like it and thanks so much for stopping by!

For Fun Challenge - Just For Fun!

This week's challenge over at For Fun is to create a card with one ribbon, two designer papers and three embelishments. That's it...easy, right? Hop on over to For Fun Challenges and check out what the girls came up with.
For my card, I chose some DP from a paper pack from Me and My Big ideas called Baby Boy and mounted it on kraft card stock. I used an adorable image from Bugaboo Stamps....I just love their images! I added a twill ribbon as required by the challenge and then added two dog paws that I got in a pack of buttons and one red button which by my count adds up to three embelishments. I used a MS border punch on some red card stock to accent the striped paper, inked up all the DP and image to give it that little boy "dirty" look and there you have it. I hope you like it and thanks for stopping by!

If you've never been to one of these event....give it a shot, you'll enjoy it.
Now for the card....I used Audrey the Equestrian as my main image. The DP is from the wonderful October Afternoon paper collection along with some turquoise card stock. I cut out a couple of the flowers from the paper, popped them up on some Dimensionals and covered them in Crystal Effects. I also added a pearl accent to the middle and there you have it! I hope you like the card and thanks for stopping by!

Back to School

The challenge for this week's For Fun Challenges is sponsored by The Stamping Boutique. You can do any layout, any color any theme but you have to use one of The Stamping Boutique's images. If you don't have one already, you can go here to download one lickety split. They really have some adorable images that will really get your creative juices flowing! For my card I chose Back to School Audrey. I used DP from TPC Studios called Back to School Ruler Stripe and added some cork from Quickutz. If you haven't used this stuff....it's a lot of fun. I popped Audrey up on some dimensionals and added an apple and button to finish it off. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by!

Good Friends Good Wine Good Times

Today's project was created for a friend of mine. I was invited to spend the day out on the lake with her and some wonderful friends a couple of weeks ago. Sounded so fun and refreshing but of course....the day I was supposed to go, woke up sick. Grrrr! So, I still have the gift for my friend which I will eventually give to her but it just won't be the same. Oh well, at least I now have time to share it with you.
My project was created out of inspiration that I found at HL through a journal. I immediately fell in love with the colors because green is my favorite color (for today). There's really no rules around making a wine bottle tag. Just cut the tag the size you want it....I slipped the top of the rectangle through a circle nestie just to round off the top, cut a hole in the top and then scored so it would lay flat. That's it. I used SU's Baroque Motif swirly stamp, covered a chipboard heart with some black and white DP also found at HL and created the sentiment on the PC. I threw on some black rhinestones and a green one on the heart just for some pizazz and there you have it! Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by!

Fun in the Sun

This week's challenge over at For Fun Challenges is an appropriate one for this time of year.....anything that has to do with water. Anything. Have fun with it....think of beaches, lighthouses, kids swimming etc. I decided to go with the beach theme and use my super funny favorite Ethel from Rubbernecker. She just cracks me up! For the beach I used some good old sandpaper. I added ribbon to the back of it to look like water. I really liked the way that ribbon turned out.
I punched out the word HOT and adhered it to the sand using pop dots. I colored Ethel using Copics and if you look real close....she has a little sunburn! I cut out a sun from the DP scraps and covered it and her glasses with Crystal Effects. On the inside of the card...I threw in a little more sand, sun and a crab and of course I finished it off with the rest of the sentiment. Make sure you check out all the creations over at For Fun Challenges and play along! Hope you like my card and thanks for stopping by!

This week's For Fun Challenge

This week's challenge is sponsored by The Stamping Boutique and it's a color challenge. Yippeee! I just love color challenges don't you? The challenge is to use bright colors....neon, glowing, funky; whatever represent bright to you. I colored my image, cut her out and sat her right in front of the window. The window opening was cut out using a nestie. I added a clear piece of acetate that I embossed to make little window panes using my Score Pal. I don't know how well you can see it but they're there. I then added some punched flowers around the window and left the sentiment off so I can use it in the future for whatever I need to. I decided to add some pennants because I think she is probably at some sort of celebration or party. Hope you like the card and thanks for stopping by!

State Fair

It's that time of year for those of you who look forward to going to your state fair. I haven't gone to one for such a long time and I have to say these digi images really make me want to go. The images are from The Stamping Boutique and they're just adorable! Everything was colored with copics and the dp is from my stash. I punched a tiny strawberry to go next to the jam, added a wire for the pig's tail and stickles to the ticket and ferris wheel. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by!

For Fun Challenge and some bling

Check out all the bling on this card!

Has it been a week already since the last For Fun challenge? Wow! This summer is just flying by!! This week's challenge is to use this sketch
to create your masterpiece and is sponsored by Fairy Knoll ~ A place where fairies fly and dreams come alive. Fairy Knoll offers digital stamps filled with fantasy and magic ~ visit them soon!

You don't have to use their images for this challenge. However; the winner of this challenge will get three images of their choice! Yeah!

The image that I chose for my card is Fairy Knoll's lovely Bianca. I decided that she was a princess and that she needed to really sparkle. I have to say this is probably the blingiest (is this a word?) card I have every made but that's ok but I love, love the bling! Ok, I'll stop saying bling now! I stamped my image then cut out the bottom middle part of her dress. I pleated some wide ribbon that I had on hand and attached to the back underside of the dress so it could peek through. I then colored my image with copics and applied Crystal Effects to the dress then sprinkled with some pink iridescent glitter. I also added some black Stickles to the waste and band across the top. I printed the image again on silver paper and cut out the tiara and added a pink rhinestone. The black and white DP is from a Hobby Lobby paper pack called The classics and the pink shimmer paper is from Archivers. I added some black velvet ribbon, threw on some rhinestone and there you have it. For full details on the challenge; check out all the creativity going on over at For Fun Challenges. Hope you like the card and thanks for stopping by!

This week's For Fun Challenge and then some

This week's card was created for two reasons....our challenge at For Fun Challenges was to create a card using an image that is colored using the method of your choice. I chose colored pencils using odorless mineral spirits. I LOVE coloring with pencils, don't you! The image was a free one that you can find at Whimsy Stamps. They are having a card drive in honor of Michelle, a designer for A Spoon Full of Sugar. She was in an accident that caused her to lose her sight in one eye. They are asking that everyone make a card and send it to her to let her know how much everyone is pulling for her. I love this image! So, take a look at this and join in with the card drive and don't forget to stop by at For Fun Challenges....you can make any kind of card you want, just color it using your most favorite technique. I can't wait to see what you create! Hope you like my card and thanks for stopping by!

For Fun Challenge

This week's challenge is just a bit different.....we made little books! They're so adorable! Mine was made using a paper pack page kit from Chatter Box called Happy Day that I got from Hobby Lobby on clearance. Woohoo! I decided to make mine in the theme of friendship. I thought it would be fun to write friendship notes on each page and put this little book in a "just because" gift to a friend. I think this might be a nice surprise for someone to get....don't you? You will need one strip of card stock measuring 2"x10" for the spine that is scored and folded every 1" and 6 pieces of cardstock measuring 2"x3". That's it...that's all you'll need except your creativity and anything you choose to "pretty up" your little book. For more instructions on making this little book; check out the other designers' ideas here and of course....give this challenge a whirl...it's a lot of fun.

Lady Bug Love

I don't know about you all but I just LOVE ladybugs! What is it about them? I decided to use them in this card that I made for the challenge over at Mojo Monday...check it out and play along. They already have the sketch ready for you, all you have to do is come up with the design. No biggie....right? So back to the card: the lady bugs and leaves are from one of Jolee's new embellies. Have you checked them out lately? Oooh la la! Along with that I made the flower using SU's oval punch, polka dot ribbon and polka dot DP. The sentiment is from a set from Archivers that I just love because it's small.....easy to pop in when space is at a premium. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by!

Patriotic Pride for my challenge card

This week's challenge over at For Fun Challenges is to create a card showing your patriotic pride. No matter where you live....show your pride! Check out the different creations representing several different places around the world respresented by our talented design team HERE! Wow...sooo cool! My card was made using SU's kraft paper as the base and digi images and paper from this awesome site....you've got to check this out. Such a talent and her stuff is free! The star is made from chipboard that I painted and covered with micro-beads while it was still wet. I used metal star brads as accents and threw on some navy ribbon across the middle. Fun card to make...I'm not sure it was because of the subject matter, the awesome digi paper or I just had some mojo flowing. Either way....hope you like it and thanks for stopping by!
P.S. I've also entered this card in the challenge over at Frosted Designs...check it out!

Friends and Butterflies

This is a card that I made a while back at my stamp club. Ironically, it has no stamping on it! :-) The sentiment is computer generated and the DP is from a mini paper pack called Poteeka Souffle that I got at Hobby Lobby. Most of it is pretty self explanatory...butterflies are from MS punches and the circles are Nesties. Hope you all had a great weekend and here's to a great week!! Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by!

WELCOME to The Stamping Boutique BLOG HOP!!

Hello and welcome to my site. Today's blog hop is from The Stamping Boutique and the theme is sewing. If you came here from Jenn's Creative Corner then you are in the right place. If you just happened to stop by and you would like to start the hop from the beginning....start here. Ok, now on to my card. I used the super cute image called "Cynthias's Wing Repair Shoppe" and on the inside an image called "Cynthia's Thread". I used some orange and white striped paper I had from my stash and to mat the image....I cut out felt using the Cuttle Bug. I used Shapeabilities' Ribbon Tags Trio for the sentiment which was computer generated and some measuring tape for my ribbon. I finished it off with a felt bow pierced with a seweing needle and thread and some matching button across the bottom. Hope you like it, thanks for visiting and your next stop will be Michele's.

A challenge card

This week's challenge over at For Fun Challenges is to make a card with anything plus a paperclip or a safety pin (no stick pins). Well....I had to think a bit on this one. What did I already have in my stash? Hmmm? Then I looked up and saw a container of about 500 orange paperclips that I got at Walmart on clearance. That settled it, I had to use them. It seems that I don't really use as many paperclips as I thought I would on that day when buying 500 orange paperclips seemed like a good idea. Anyway...this card was made using the fabulous October Afternoon's Fly a Kite DP. I know everyone says this but I really do LOVE this paper! I did buy the kit meant mainly for scrapbooking but that was all my local craft store had and you know what? I'm really glad I got it. It has some really adorable journaling cards and stickers. Every image you see on this card is from the kit. I used some pop dots on the middle circle, added some ribbon and there you have it! I also entered this card in the iheart2stamp challenge. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by!

Zoom Zoom

This is a fun little card that I made for my nephew's birthday. The great thing is...it was made from DP and stickers that I've had in my stash for years...yes, I said years!! Love it! The cars are stickers from Hot Wheels and the "metal" strip was made using metallic paper and a CB folder called diamond plate. "Zoom" was cut out using the BaseCamp Cricuit font and I finished it off with a couple brads that look like screws. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by!

Just For Fun Challenge

This card was made for the challenge over at Just for Fun. We decided to go with a technique this week called chalk popping. As you can see, the butterflies look a little soft and wispy...that's the effect you get with this technique. Here's a link, if you're interested in learning more. Click Here I also embossed a frame in the middle of the card using my CB and I used the Swiss Dots folder for the background. Stop by and check out the Just for Fun Challenges and give it a shot! Thanks for stopping by!

A card with no name

Today's card is a simple one that I made to just have on hand. I didn't include a sentiment so I can use it for just about anything when I need it. I think I will start making one of those everytime I make a card....just because. Never fails...I have a card but it just doesn't say the right thing. Anyway...this card was made using paper from a mini pack called "Basics" that came from Hobby Lobby and the little sunflowers are Martha Stewart. Hope you like my simple card for a Monday and thanks for stopping by!
